Choose your preferred format for the 60 minute visit
EITHER
A confidential meeting with only the concerned caregiver, not the driver
OR
An In-person meeting with both the driver and the concerned caregiver together
What’s the difference?
Confidential meeting:
A Confidential Meeting is for the caregiver who is concerned whether their concerns warrant a serious family conversation.
Likely there are varying opinions within the family regarding this sensitive matter. The driver of concern is not present for this meeting. You prefer to discuss the driver without their knowledge. You may be reluctant to bring up the subject of driving safety with them knowing that the driver will resist, forget or not understand.
To prepare for the confidential meeting, be ready to discuss the drivers’ daily routine, their ability to manage personal care and household tasks.
Have a list of their medications and medical diagnoses.
Look at the car they drive for signs of scrapes or dents.
What is their driving history, driving record like?
Think about the driving environment and where the driver likes to go in the car.
At the conclusion of the visit recommendations will be made to the caregiver. We help you make the right decision about driver safety.
OR
In-person Meeting:
An In-Person Meeting includes both the caregiver/s and the driver of concern in a virtual meeting, seated together at a kitchen or dining room table.
This option is for the family that wants an unbiased, third party/outsider point of view about the driver and their ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
The driver has agreed to a meeting to “address the family’s concerns about your driving safety”.
The in person meeting includes the driver of concern and their caregiver. We start with a driver interview about where the driver grew up and learned how to drive.
Next we discuss driving habits, medical status and medications. The caregiver does not get involved in answering those questions unless specifically requested by the interviewer, for clarity.
The in person session includes some mobility challenges. Cognitive challenges are also be part of the testing.
At the conclusion of the visit recommendations are made to the driver and the caregiver together, regarding what to do next about driving
